Penalty for Theft in Dubai
Under Article 435, theft is defined as the embezzlement of movable property belonging to another person.

Life Imprisonment for Theft
Article 436 states that life imprisonment may be applied if the theft is committed at night by two or more people, if any of them are armed, or if it occurs in an inhabited building accessed unlawfully.

Temporary Imprisonment

This applies if the theft is committed by multiple people, involves weapons, occurs at night, or involves the use of force.
Theft involving government property, like weapons or telecommunication equipment, also results in temporary imprisonment or life imprisonment if aggravating factors exist.

Article 441 states that if an employee commits theft at their workplace with the intent to harm their employer, the penalty ranges from five to seven years.
Theft committed at night or by someone carrying a weapon leads to two to seven years of imprisonment.
Theft in Specific Locations
Article 442 increases penalties for theft committed in specific places, such as places of worship, inhabited homes, or transportation stations.
Theft carried out through scaling, breaking in, using duplicate keys, or impersonating an official can result in at least one year in prison.
Minor Theft and First-Time Offenses
Article 443 covers thefts that do not involve aggravating factors. In these cases, the punishment can be as low as six months of incarceration or a monetary fine.
Unauthorized Use of Vehicles
Under Article 447, using someone else’s car, motorcycle, or similar vehicle without consent can result in up to one year in jail and/or a fine not exceeding AED 10,000.

Article 448 identifies committing theft during a riot, fire, or disaster as an aggravating circumstance, increasing the severity of the sentence.

Under Article 445, attempted theft is punishable by half the penalty of the completed offense.
